Every July, we pause. We look back honestly at what your partnership has made possible — not a highlights reel, but the real, full-color picture of lives changed.
The first half of 2026 has been the most expansive, most impactful six months in the history of the Global Development Project. We entered forgotten regions and brought girls home from places few organizations dare to go. We opened the doors of a brand-new Multiplex Center in Mombasa and watched youth from two nations fill every room. We received formal recognition from the Kenyan government. And we watched a little girl named Hilda sit at a table full of friends, eating a real meal, laughing for the first time.

A lighthouse doesn’t stop the storm — it shows the way through it.
The St. Rita Project
A lighthouse of rescue and restoration for vulnerable girls and young mothers in Nyahururu and beyond.
St. Rita Evergreen Girls School remains one of the most significant and urgent initiatives in GDP’s portfolio. What began as a sanctuary for highly vulnerable girls has become a full healing environment where girls are not simply sheltered, but genuinely rebuilt.
In 2026, St. Rita’s reach went beyond its walls. In Maralal-Samburu, eleven girls were waiting in an undisclosed safe house. Survivors of Sexual Gender Based Violence. Some were only ten years old. Communities had heard about St. Rita, Dr. Kagimbi, and GDP’s kind of presence — the kind that shows up and stays.

New girls rescued from Samburu in 2026 and brought into a safe restoration pathway.

The GDP Multiplex Center
Open, alive, and transforming — a permanent East Africa platform for youth, women, leaders, mentorship, training, housing, and regional connection.
When partners began giving toward the GDP Multiplex Center in Mombasa, it was a vision on paper. In April 2026, it became one of the most powerful things GDP has ever witnessed.
Dormitories. Classrooms. Offices. A 1,200-seat auditorium. A dining hall. A full kitchen. A permanent regional hub standing on the Kenyan coast as a testimony to what sustained, faithful giving builds in the real world.

Empowerment under one roof
The Multiplex is now the permanent hub where women, youth, and leaders gather for economic training, mentorship, healing, leadership development, meals, and community.
A movement across two nations
Patricia Wright’s Women’s Empowerment Initiative has now reached more than 5,500 women across Kenya and Uganda through conferences, mentorship, healing sessions, leadership training, and food support.
The April Mombasa summit, hosted at the Multiplex, marked the largest women’s gathering in GDP’s history. Women traveled from every corner of Kenya and from Western Uganda, some for days, to attend.
- 5,500+ women reached across Kenya and Uganda since the initiative began.
- 2,000+ widows provided food support and encouragement in 2026 alone.
- Leadership, economic empowerment, mental health, and spiritual encouragement delivered together.
- Multiplex positioned as a permanent Women’s Empowerment hub.
Youth Empowerment Conferences
When youth are given hope, they begin to dream again.
Throughout 2025, GDP hosted and supported seven nationwide Youth Empowerment Conferences in Nairobi and Mombasa. In 2026, that investment came into full bloom at the Multiplex in Mombasa.
Youth from children’s homes, rural villages, and urban neighborhoods across Kenya and Uganda gathered under one roof for the first time. Some traveled 28.5 hours by bus. Many slept in Multiplex dormitories and attended their first multi-day summit because the facility made it possible.
- Youth ages 6 to 26 gathered for teaching, mentorship, and leadership development.
- Partner homes represented St. Rita, Good Samaritans, Project of Hope, and Compassionate Children’s Home.
- GDP alumni from Good Samaritan Children’s Home are now attorneys, medical professionals, architects, and IT programmers building Kenya’s future.
- Second-half goal: reach 4,500–5,500 youth across East Africa by year end.
Building futures, one child at a time
Education is where hope takes root — from feeding programs and school supplies to scholarship support and professional internships.
Osarai Primary School
Quarterly feeding serves 110+ children with meals, shoes, clothing, school supplies, clean water, and classroom improvements. Attendance and graduation have more than doubled since GDP’s consistent involvement.
St. Rita Evergreen Girls School
A healing sanctuary where vulnerable girls remain with their children while mother and child receive education, care, and trauma-informed support.
Evelyn S. Weatherspoon Scholarship Fund
Scholarship support helps students move from survival to school to professional pathways that can shape Kenya’s future.
Vulnerable children and special-needs centers
Compassion becomes credible when it meets real needs.
GDP maintains a strong, hands-on presence in children’s homes and special-needs centers across Kenya, including Good Samaritan Children’s Home, Project of Hope Children’s Home and Special Needs Center, and Compassionate Children’s Home.
In December 2025, GDP made its first visit to a newly adopted orphanage. In April 2026, the team returned with clothes, three months of food, a beautician to braid the girls’ hair, soccer balls for the boys, and hours of laughter. The change between those visits was nothing short of miraculous.
- 590+ children supported, including children with physical and developmental special needs.
- Truck Loads of Hope delivered essential supplies to three children’s homes.
- A Season to Remember provided holiday support for 530+ children.
- Monthly field-team engagement continues with Compassionate Children’s Home.
A child named Hilda
Every statistic in this report represents a name and a story. Hilda Simiyu is one of those stories.
Earlier this year, GDP found Hilda Simiyu in Nairobi: a young girl suffering from severe malnutrition after losing both parents, with no safe home and no one in her corner.
GDP made a commitment. Today, Hilda is receiving daily medical care at Good Samaritan Children’s Home, eating regular meals with friends, enrolled in school, and receiving trauma-informed counseling.
She is playing. She is laughing. She is living — for the first time.
Permanently planted, publicly accountable
In 2026, after more than three decades of showing up, staying, and building, the Kenyan government formally recognized the Global Development Project as a registered Non-Governmental Organization.
Kenyan NGO Recognition
With formal recognition came the launch of Global Hearts Without Borders Network operating directly under the GDP banner across Kenya and East Africa. Same mission. Same heart. Same team.
Stewardship Commitment
Report honestly. Stay consistent when no one is watching. Treat every dollar like it belongs to someone who worked hard to give it.
Looking ahead
The first part of 2026 was extraordinary. The next phase is focused, urgent, and already underway.

Growing from April’s breakthrough with more cities, expanded capacity, and deeper transformation under one roof.
Reaching 1,000+ additional women in areas not yet touched by GDP programming, plus deeper Uganda reach.
Continuing active recovery operations into isolated regions like Samburu, bringing girls to safety at The Lighthouse.
With 2,000+ girls waiting, GDP is actively working to expand Lighthouse capacity and programming.

Every statistic in this report represents a life. A story. Someone who had no help, no hope, no voice. And someone else — you — who refused to look away.
Because of you, girls found safety in places no one else would go. Youth found direction inside a building that exists because of your faithfulness. Women found their voice. Widows received food. And children learned what it means to be safe, seen, and loved.
