Extending Love and Hope | Education That Lasts
Dear GDP Friends and Partners,
As we continue into 2026, the momentum you helped set in January is already carrying forward.
Last month, we shared how the GDP Multiplex Center is coming to life as a permanent hub for leadership, training, and restoration. This month, we want to focus on what has always been at the very heart of GDP’s mission — education.
Education is where hope takes root. It is where cycles are interrupted, dignity is restored, and futures begin to look different.
🎓 Education Initiatives — Building Futures, One Child at a Time
Across Kenya, GDP’s education initiatives continue to quietly and steadily change lives — not through quick fixes, but through consistent presence and long-term commitment.
In some of the most difficult and underserved areas, we support education by addressing the barriers that keep children from learning in the first place: hunger, unsafe classrooms, lack of supplies, trauma, and instability at home.
At Osarai Primary School in Maasai country, children who once walked miles barefoot and arrived hungry are now learning in refurbished classrooms, receiving regular meals, and showing up with confidence. Attendance and graduation rates have more than doubled since GDP’s sustained involvement.
🏫 Education That Heals — St. Rita Evergreen Girls School
One of the most powerful expressions of GDP’s education work continues at St. Rita Evergreen Girls School — a place unlike any other in East Africa.
St. Rita is the first school of its kind in the region to allow vulnerable girls to remain with their children while both mother and child receive education, care, and trauma-informed support. Here, education is not separated from healing — the two move together.
Girls who were once defined by stigma and shame are now students, mothers, and leaders in the making. Their children grow up in safety, stability, and love — breaking cycles that once felt unbreakable.
More than 40 girls and their children are currently being supported, with over 2,000 more waiting for a place of refuge and restoration.
One young mother told us, “This school gave me my life back — and gave my child a future.”
🧩 Leaving No One Behind — Special Needs Education & Care
GDP’s commitment to education extends to children who are too often overlooked.
At the Project of Hope Children’s Home in Nairobi, GDP supports a Special Needs Children’s Center serving orphaned children with physical and developmental disabilities. These children require patience, therapy, adaptive learning, and consistent care — and they receive it because of your generosity.
Here, education looks different. Progress may come slowly. But every step forward matters.
In 2025 alone, GDP supported hundreds of orphaned children, including those with special needs, ensuring access to education, nutrition, therapy support, and dignity.
As one caregiver shared, “It says a lot for GDP to come down into the slums to care for the children that no one wants to see or care to even know that they exist. But you all came, and stayed. When you teach these children, you are telling them their lives have value.”
📽️ Watch the Story — GDP Education Initiative
This month’s newsletter includes a short video presentation highlighting GDP’s education initiatives across Kenya — from rural classrooms to girls’ schools and special needs centers.
We invite you to take a few minutes to watch the attached video and explore the accompanying photo gallery. You’ll see faces, places, and classrooms that exist because of your support.

🌱 Education With Purpose — Looking Ahead
As 2026 unfolds, GDP will continue strengthening education initiatives by:
- Expanding classroom support and learning resources
- Sustaining feeding programs that keep children in school
- Increasing access to trauma-informed education for girls and young mothers
- Growing special needs education and therapy support
- Using the Multiplex Center to host training, leadership development, and educational gatherings
Your partnership makes it possible to think long-term — not just about access to education, but about its quality, safety, and lasting impact.
✉️ A Personal Word
Education has always been personal to me.
Every classroom we walk into represents trust. Every child sitting at a desk represents a future that could have been lost — but wasn’t.
Thank you for believing that education is one of the most powerful tools for lasting change. Thank you for helping GDP reach children others overlook and places others avoid.
The work continues. And because of you, hope keeps learning, growing, and moving forward.
With gratitude,
Michael Wright
