Amplify the mission

Advocate — share GDP's story

You don’t need a platform or a big following. You just need to share one story with one person who cares. Every share reaches potential donors, volunteers, and partners — and GDP’s story is compelling enough to do the rest.

Follow and share on social media

Follow @gdp_kenya on Instagram. Share GDP’s stories, posts, and videos. Tag a friend who needs to see what hope looks like in action. Every share reaches networks GDP could never reach on its own.

Not at all. GDP welcomes people of all backgrounds — first-time travelers, seasoned missionaries, healthcare workers, teachers, students, and retirees. The only requirement is a willing heart. GDP provides all orientation and preparation support before departure.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Minors under 18 may participate with legal parental consent and under the direct supervision of their parent(s) or legal guardian throughout the trip.
GDP recommends all travelers consult a travel medicine clinic at least 6–8 weeks before departure. Common recommendations include Yellow Fever (required for some regions), Typhoid, Hepatitis A & B, and malaria prophylaxis. GDP provides a detailed health preparation guide to all registered travelers including recommended clinics and current requirements.
GDP has operated in Kenya for 35 years and has established deep trust and relationships with local communities, officials, and partners across the country. All trips include thorough safety briefings, vetted local partners, and 24/7 GDP leadership support throughout the journey. GDP has taken hundreds of volunteers to Kenya safely over three decades. While international travel always involves some risk, GDP takes every precaution to ensure participant safety.
The 2026 trip visited Nairobi, Mombasa, Nyahururu, Musoli Village in Western Kenya, and additional sites. Program sites included Good Samaritans Children's Home, Compassionate Children's Home, St. Rita Evergreen Girls School, Project of Hope Children's Home & Special Needs Center, and the GDP Multiplex Center in Mombasa. The exact itinerary varies by trip year — GDP provides full details when you register.
GDP provides a sample fundraising letter and tips to help you get started. Many participants successfully fund their full trip fee through friends, family, and their church community. GDP encourages registering early — typically 6–9 months before departure — to allow sufficient fundraising time. Email gdp.kenya1991@gmail.com to request the fundraising starter pack.
Contact GDP directly at gdp.kenya1991@gmail.com or call +1-904-370-3675 (Mon–Thu, 10am–5pm EST) to express your interest. GDP will add you to the 2027 interest list and notify you as soon as dates and pricing are confirmed.
International Safety & Travel Advisory
The Global Development Project Kenya team takes great care to ensure that our volunteers and participants are safe and comfortable while traveling internationally and serving in underdeveloped countries. However, it is important to recognize that many areas in which we work can be unpredictable. GDP cannot and does not guarantee your health, safety, or comfort, and cannot be held liable for any unforeseen risks. We strongly urge all volunteers to take all necessary precautions before, during, and after their trips. The health and safety of our volunteers are our top priority, and GDP works diligently to minimize all known risks throughout the journey.
