Greetings from Nairobi Kenya E. Africa.
As this year ends and we look back over this past year. We show our gratitude and appreciation during this festive season. We thank the many Friends of GDP Kenya for the donations, supplies, encouragement, and acts of generosity you’ve displayed throughout the entire year of 2023.
We thought in conjunction with this festive season, that we also remember those less fortunate. So, in the process we created “A Season to Remember”.
A Season to Remember was organized in partnership with you, the “Friends of GDP Kenya” and designed to give the children residing at the Good Samaritan Children’s Home a Christmas that would be memorable. As you know, the children’s home is located in the heart of the Mathare slums – Nairobi. We have partnered together to support this and other homes for the past several years as they receive orphans and abandoned children that literally have no hope of a future and no home or shelter to go to. We help to meet the needs and expenses of their food, housing, education, healthcare, safety, and well-being.
During the December holidays, it was our goal to make this time special for these kids by showing them a beautiful time of love, fun, care, attention, and lots and lots of food!
The Christmas day event would be centered around the Christmas Day meal, which is a huge part of this festive season. The star of the day was “Kuku” the Swahili word for chicken. Chicken is the dish of preference for the Christmas season in Kenya.
The menu included: Chicken Stew, Rice, Chapati, Potatoes, Cabbage, Carrots, Cookies, Soda, Watermelon, and Bananas.
The joy, laughter, singing, and hope that was seen and felt throughout the day was incredible! It was truly, “A Season to Remember”! And all of this was made possible through you donations! We can’t say thank you enough for your support!
Thank you, friends of GDP Kenya!
